Arizona

An overnight stop in Los Angeles with friends Dayle & Art Bell preclude a week in Sedona, Arizona with my sister Sue & Don, nephew Andy, and my brother David. It’s high summer and despite an elevation of 4,350′ it is still 100F…but as they say, it’s a dry heat!

Given we were still jet lagged it was no problem for us to get up at 5 am and begin a hike with Dave in the purple-hued desert mountains. We chose a different trail every day and were usually finished before 9 am, ready for a day with the rest of the family.

Breakfast isn’t for lightweights. That ham steak was one serving with the eggs, potatoes and toast.

Is this the Wild West in Arizona?
Chapel of the Holy Cross sits proudly on a rock precipice. I was amazed to read that an old friend from Tiburon, Gus Strotz, was one of the two architects in the ’50s!

Puffball mushrooms or golf balls?
